Mazda Foundation to Assist Koru Care to Take Kids to Disneyland

The Mazda Foundation has partnered with Koru Care to sponsor its 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Charity Auction on September 20 in Auckland.
Funds raised at the auction will support a trip to Disneyland (26 October - 9 November, 2008) for 50 children and 28 caregivers from around New Zealand (normally 25 children go on the trip).
Koru Care New Zealand spokesman Peter Courtney says, “We are thrilled to have the backing of Mazda Foundation. The Gala Dinner is our major fundraising event for the trip to Los Angeles and the Foundation has been incredibly generous with its support. The Charity Auction will be an event in itself as we have assembled a great range of high quality items, including some world class sporting, music and movie memorabilia.”
Andrew Clearwater, Mazda Foundation chairman and managing director of Mazda New Zealand, says the Foundation is delighted to be able to support Koru Care.
“The mission of Koru Care is making dreams come true, which has a strong degree of affinity with the values of the Mazda Foundation. The Foundation helps a range of individuals’ and organisations’ in the community through providing funding for specific projects or activities.”
Auction items on the night include the World Car of the Year, the Mazda2, cruises around Alaska and the Mediterranean and signed memorabilia from a range of international celebrities/sporting stars including Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali, Roger Federer and New Zealand’s Sir Edmund Hillary.
The children will be chauffeured to their local airport in Mazda vehicles provided by local Mazda dealers.
About Koru Care:
Koru Care was established in 1983 by a group of Air New Zealand employees to provide support and funding for disadvantaged, disabled and seriously ill children to enhance their lives. The aim of the organisation is to make dreams come true and so far have helped more than 10,000 young people and their families. Koru Care have held private movie screenings, funded overseas travel and taken children from around the country to Disneyland every year.
