The Common Unity Project

The Common Unity Project received $5,635 towards equipment for the Beeple Honey Collective which aims to educate people on the importance of bees and provide free honey to the community.

The project creates hives which are then leased to people throughout the Hutt Valley region, with experienced beekeepers to assist the amateur honey makers in maintaining their hives.

All hive hosts get to keep 10kg of honey from their hive, and the surplus is gifted to low decile schools for use in their breakfast programmes, as well as some being sold for profit to be reinvested in local food development projects.
