Donna Bedford

Donna Bedford received $3,000 to go towards fundraising for Assistance Dogs New Zealand after it provided her son Tom, who lives with autism and epilepsy, an assistance dog.

Assistance dogs’ cost around $48,000 to train over the course of two years, so the Bedford family are using the grant to give back to the organisation that has done so much for them.

Amber the assistance dog has become a loyal companion for Tom, providing comfort during and after seizures, keeping him calm and safe while out in the Auckland community and allowing him to live a more fulfilled life.
