Kim-Marie McAlpine

Kim-Marie McAlpine’s daughter has Fibrodysplasia Ossification Progressiva – an extremely rare disorder affecting 1 in 2million people, with only two people diagnosed with it in New Zealand. Fibrodysplasia gradually ossifies skeletal and connective tissue causing a deterioration of joint movement and extreme pain and discomfort, and with no cure, pain and joint movement management is key. Kim-Marie received a grant of $11,788 to install a heated spa pool, a tool which will help alleviate the pain and side effects whilst also attempting to limit the advancement and impact of the disease on her daughter.
